In an exciting development for '90s rock fans, Linda Perry has revealed the story behind 4 Non Blondes' upcoming reunion at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival this May. The performance will mark only the second time the band has played together since their split nearly 30 years ago.
Speaking on The Allison Hagendorf Show, Perry shared that the timing simply felt right. "It's the right time in my head. It's the right time in my heart," the singer explained, noting her desire to make 2025 her year after "planting seeds all over the place."
When the BottleRock offer arrived, Perry individually contacted her former bandmates - despite their limited communication over the years. To her delight, the other members expressed enthusiasm about reuniting. The group plans to meet in San Francisco for casual rehearsals before the festival.
Perry also dropped an intriguing revelation about unreleased material, mentioning the existence of a recorded second 4 Non Blondes album. However, she acknowledged that personal struggles and hurt feelings led to her departure from the band in 1994, preventing that album's release.
The band, formed in late 1980s San Francisco, achieved massive success with their hit "What's Up?" from their only album "Bigger, Better, Faster, More!" Their last performance together was at a 2014 fundraiser for the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center.
After leaving 4 Non Blondes, Perry established herself as a successful solo artist and songwriter, crafting hits for major artists including Pink, Christina Aguilera, and Gwen Stefani.
Fans can catch the reunited 4 Non Blondes at BottleRock Napa Valley from May 23-25, where they'll have a rare opportunity to witness the band perform together once again.
