Paramount+ has opened its vault to release over 50 iconic MTV Unplugged episodes, bringing decades of legendary acoustic performances to streaming audiences for the first time in over 20 years.
The newly available collection includes some of music history's most memorable performances, including Nirvana's haunting 1994 set recorded months before Kurt Cobain's death, and one of Alice in Chains' final appearances with vocalist Layne Staley.
Among the most anticipated releases is Oasis' controversial 1996 episode, which has been nearly impossible to find in high quality until now. The infamous performance features Noel Gallagher taking over vocal duties after his brother Liam allegedly arrived intoxicated just before filming, claiming throat problems in the days prior.
This extensive MTV Unplugged release follows Paramount+'s previous success with music content from their archives, including their special program centered around Eric Clapton's celebrated 1992 performance.
The MTV Unplugged series, which began in 1989, has captured some of music's most intimate and raw performances, stripping away electric instruments to reveal artists in their most authentic form. New subscribers can access this historic collection through Paramount+'s seven-day free trial.
This release marks a major milestone in making these culturally influential performances available to both longtime fans and new generations of music enthusiasts.
