A star-studded tribute concert honoring the late Mark Lanegan took place at London's Roundhouse on what would have been the Screaming Trees frontman's 60th birthday. Lanegan, who passed away in 2022 at age 57, was celebrated by an impressive lineup of musical peers and collaborators.
The event, titled "Mark Lanegan – A Celebration," brought together members of Queens Of The Stone Age, including Josh Homme and Troy Van Leeuwen, who had frequently collaborated with Lanegan during his time as a part-time member of the band. The evening also featured performances by Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan, the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde, the Kills' Allison Mosshart, and Afghan Whigs' Greg Dulli.
The concert showcased various chapters of Lanegan's musical legacy. Greg Dulli, accompanied by the Soulsavers, performed "The Stations" from his Gutter Twins collaboration with Lanegan. Bobby Gillespie paid tribute with Screaming Trees' 1996 track "Sworn And Broken."
Dave Gahan delivered renditions of Lanegan's solo works, including 1994's "Kingdoms Of Rain" and 2004's "Hit The City." Josh Homme took the stage to perform Lanegan's 1994 song "Carnival."
The gathering served as a powerful reminder of Lanegan's impact on alternative music and his ability to forge meaningful musical partnerships across genres. The evening celebrated his extensive catalog, from his early days with Screaming Trees through his solo career and numerous collaborations.
