A tragic incident at Mexico City's AXE Ceremonia music festival led to the deaths of two photographers when a metal structure collapsed during high winds on Saturday, forcing organizers to cancel the remainder of the two-day event.

Berenice Giles and Miguel Hernández, both photographers for music outlet Mr. Indie, were fatally injured when a decorative metal piece fell due to strong wind gusts at Parque Bicentenario. The victims were rushed to Dr. Rubén Leñero General Hospital with severe cranioencephalic trauma and multiple fractures, but arrived showing no vital signs despite receiving emergency care.

Local authorities revealed the collapsed structure had not been present during pre-festival safety inspections. "It was a last-minute decision by the private organizers to install them today during the concert," officials stated, noting this unauthorized addition led directly to the tragic incident.

The festival organizers expressed deep remorse in a statement: "With profound sadness, we confirm the death of the two individuals who were injured in the incident. This loss hurts us immensely." They pledged full support to the victims' families and confirmed ongoing cooperation with authorities investigating the incident.

Several scheduled performers shared condolences, including British pop star Charli XCX who wrote "My heart is with the families and friends of Miguel and Berenice." The Marías, who were set to perform Sunday, announced their withdrawal stating "Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of two photographers."

The Mexico City Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation to determine responsibility for the structural failure. Festival organizers confirmed all Sunday tickets will be automatically refunded through Ticketmaster.

The event had featured performances from artists including Charli XCX, Tomorrow X Together, and Natanael Cano before its premature end. Sunday's canceled lineup was set to include Tyler, the Creator, Lil Yachty, and other prominent acts.
