Talking Heads legend David Byrne is working on a new solo album with an exciting collaboration in the works. Hamilton Leithauser, lead singer of The Walkmen, has confirmed he will be lending his vocals to Byrne's upcoming record.
The unexpected partnership came as a welcome surprise to Leithauser, who initially thought he was being pranked when Byrne first reached out. "When I got the first message from him, I thought I was being punked," Leithauser revealed.
For Leithauser, the opportunity to work with Byrne holds special meaning, as he has been a longtime admirer of the artist's work for over three decades. The Walkmen frontman specifically praised Talking Heads' album "Fear of Music" as their finest work, highlighting Byrne's distinctive vocal approach and songwriting abilities.
The collaboration has allowed Leithauser to get to know Byrne personally, describing him as "really cool" and "very polite." This partnership announcement comes as Leithauser prepares for the release of his own album "This Side of the Island," set to drop on March 7 through Glassnote Records.
Details about Byrne's upcoming solo album, including its title and release date, have yet to be announced. This project will mark Byrne's first solo release since his 2018 album "American Utopia."
