The late rapper MF DOOM's personal notebooks have finally been returned to his widow Jasmine Dumile Thompson after reaching a settlement in a legal dispute with former A&R representative Eothen "Egon" Alapatt.

Thompson had filed a lawsuit against Alapatt in 2023, alleging copyright infringement, fraud, misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment regarding DOOM's handwritten notebooks that remained in Alapatt's possession following the artist's death in 2020.

The parties have now reached a confidential settlement, bringing the contentious matter to a close. "We are relieved to bring this chapter to a close," Thompson stated, acknowledging that while differences arose, Alapatt had preserved the valuable notebooks.

Alapatt, who described DOOM as "a dear friend" and "one of the most important artists I've ever known," explained that he had purchased and safeguarded the notebooks to preserve the rapper's musical legacy. He expressed satisfaction with the resolution, calling it a triumph in protecting the work of a "once-in-a-lifetime talent."

The settlement marks a positive step forward for DOOM's family, who remain focused on celebrating the legendary rapper's artistic legacy and lasting influence on music and culture. Thompson will now determine the future of these precious artifacts that document the creative process of one of hip-hop's most innovative voices.

MF DOOM, known for his intricate wordplay and mysterious masked persona, passed away in October 2020, leaving behind a rich musical legacy that continues to influence artists worldwide.
