Rock legend Neil Young has expressed serious concerns about potentially being denied reentry to the United States following his upcoming European tour, citing his outspoken criticism of former President Donald Trump.

The Canadian-born musician, who became a U.S. citizen in 2020, shared his apprehensions on his website about the possible consequences of speaking out against Trump during his European performances scheduled for this summer.

"When I go to play music in Europe, if I talk about Donald J. Trump, I may be one of those returning to America who is barred or put in jail," Young wrote, referencing recent cases of activist deportations under the Trump administration.

Young's Love Earth world tour begins June 18 in Rättvik, Sweden, followed by U.S. dates starting August 8 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The dual citizen worries that ticket holders for his American shows could be left disappointed if he faces immigration issues upon return.

"If I come back from Europe and am barred, can't play my USA tour, all of the folks who bought tickets will not be able to come to a concert by me," the musician explained.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee joins other prominent artists who have voiced opposition to Trump, including Selena Gomez, Madonna, and Billie Eilish. Young has been particularly vocal, describing Trump as "the worst president in the history of our great country."

Despite his concerns, Young maintains his deep connection to America: "I love America and its people and its music and its culture," he wrote, concluding with a pointed reference to American values: "One country, indivisible, with Liberty and Freedom for all. Remember that? I do."

The tour is scheduled to conclude at the Hollywood Bowl on September 15, assuming Young can successfully return to U.S. soil after his European dates.
