The legendary Beatles member Paul McCartney has penned an open letter supporting the late Joe Cocker's nomination for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2025.

Cocker, who passed away in 2014, is among 14 artists nominated this year, marking his first nomination since becoming eligible in 1989. In his heartfelt letter addressed to "Rock and Rollers," McCartney praised Cocker's musical legacy and unique vocal style.

"Joe was a great man and a fine singer whose unique style made for some fantastic performances," wrote McCartney, highlighting Cocker's memorable cover of The Beatles' "With a Little Help From My Friends," which later became the theme song for the TV series "The Wonder Years."

McCartney recalled being particularly impressed when Cocker and producer Denny Cordell visited the Beatles' studio in Savile Row to play their recording. "It was just mind-blowing – totally turned the song into a soul anthem," McCartney remembered.

The two-time Rock Hall inductee expressed confidence that Cocker would be "extremely happy and grateful" to be considered among such "illustrious company," noting that while Cocker never lobbied for the honor himself, his contribution to rock and roll history is undeniable.

Cocker's impressive career included numerous memorable performances and hits, including "You Are So Beautiful to Me" and the Grammy, Academy Award, and Golden Globe-winning duet "Up Where We Belong" with Jennifer Warnes.

The final inductees will be announced in April, with the ceremony scheduled to take place in Los Angeles later this fall. Rock Hall chairman John Sykes has previously indicated his support for Cocker's induction, describing him as "a deserving name" for the honor.
