Rising rock star Hannah Wicklund has been making waves in the music industry, recently celebrating her 27th birthday while opening for legendary bands Yes and Deep Purple on their summer tour. In an exclusive interview, Wicklund opens up about her musical journey, her partnership with Anderson Guitars, and her upcoming live album.
A Confident Performer
Wicklund exudes confidence as she discusses her recent experiences. "At this point, I know who I am and I just feel really, really confident," she says. This self-assurance is evident in her performances, which have caught the attention of both fans and industry veterans alike.
Anderson Guitars Partnership
One of the highlights of Wicklund's career so far has been her collaboration with Anderson Guitars. As part of the company's 40th-anniversary celebration, she's been given the opportunity to customize her signature Drop Top Classic model, which she affectionately calls "The Forest Fairy."
"I just adore Anderson guitars," Wicklund gushes. "Tom Anderson is such a great guy who cares so much. He's at the shop every single day." Her loyalty to the brand is clear, as she speaks about the honor of being asked to name and paint backplates for two guitars in their anniversary limited edition series.
Live at the Troubadour
Wicklund is eagerly anticipating the release of her first live record, "Live at the Troubadour." She explains, "It's very exciting to share this live record because I've always been confident in my live show. I've been performing since I was a child and I've always been proud – but that show, combined with the connection with the fans, is extra special."
The album promises to showcase Wicklund's evolving style and her ability to connect with audiences through her music. "Just in terms of jams, I'll extend certain songs and solos, but I also love to go on a whim and take risks that will be shaped into jams. It was important to capture that and share it with people," she says.
Embracing Femininity in Rock
Wicklund's journey has also involved embracing her femininity in the rock music scene. She admits, "Being a 'woman in rock,' I didn't feel very feminine. I felt like I had to step into this masculine role every time I walked into a music venue in order to feel respected."
However, her perspective has shifted, and she now finds joy in inspiring other women through her music and image. "It's fun having women connect with my music, and telling me it helped them embrace their femininity to see a woman play guitar while wearing a tiara," she shares.
Looking Ahead
As Hannah Wicklund continues to make her mark in the music world, she remains grounded and focused on her artistic growth. With her unique blend of talent, authenticity, and newfound confidence, she's poised to become a major force in rock music for years to come.
