The Dead Sara frontwoman Emily Armstrong recently opened up about her experience of becoming Linkin Park's new vocalist describing it as entering a magical world of endless possibilities.
In a candid conversation with Mike Shinoda on the band's official podcast, Armstrong revealed the overwhelming emotions and challenges she faced after being selected to join the legendary rock group.
The singer admitted to struggling with keeping the news under wraps before the official announcement. She found herself avoiding social gatherings and casual conversations about her musical endeavors, fearing she might accidentally disclose her involvement with Linkin Park.
"I've been invited to a lot of things like birthdays and stuff like that," Armstrong explained. "I would think about going and having drinks, but then people would ask what I'm doing. It felt weird to just say 'Yeah, rehearsing.'" She added that she opted to stay home rather than navigate potentially awkward conversations about Dead Sara's activities while holding back such momentous news.
The magnitude of joining Linkin Park's iconic lineup - now consisting of Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, Joe Hahn, Colin Brittain, and Armstrong - truly hit her after leaving the studio. "It was like I stepped into Disney World," she expressed enthusiastically. "It was fucking full of magic and full of opportunity, and everything you could possibly imagine."
Armstrong also praised the band's thoughtful approach to bringing her aboard, noting how they considered her existing commitments with Dead Sara. The group has recently released their comeback album "From Zero," marking a new chapter in Linkin Park's storied history with Armstrong at the helm.
