Brad Delson, founding guitarist of Linkin Park, has opened up about his decision to step back from live performances while remaining an active studio member of the band.

In a recent interview, Delson revealed that the years following Chester Bennington's death gave him time to reflect on his role in the band and what truly energizes him. "I really thrive in the studio. I love making new things," Delson explained, noting that this realization led him to focus his creative energy on recording and production rather than touring.

While Delson no longer appears on stage, he continues to play an integral role in shaping Linkin Park's live shows. He remains heavily involved in crafting setlists, show concepts, and overall flow of performances. "Even though I'm not onstage, I put a lot of my creative love into it," he shared.

The band has brought in Alex Feder as their touring guitarist, with Delson's full support and guidance. Delson worked closely with Feder to ensure the authentic feel of iconic Linkin Park songs would be preserved. "There are certain songs where, even if they're not the most technical, there's a feel that's unique to my playing. I really wanted Alex to get that right," Delson said.

Mike Shinoda, the band's rapper and co-vocalist, attributed Delson's decision partly to mental health considerations, explaining that their guitarist "does not like the live show and touring lifestyle."

Despite his absence from the stage, Delson expresses enthusiasm about Linkin Park's current direction, including their successful comeback album "From Zero" and new frontwoman Emily Armstrong. He remains gratified by the mix of new and longtime fans at shows, calling it "an incredible time to be grateful and celebrate."
