Alternative rock veterans Garbage have revealed plans for their eighth studio album, "Let All That We Imagine Be the Light," set for release on May 30, 2024, via Stun Volume.
The new record, which follows their 2021 release "No Gods No Masters," was recorded across multiple locations including Los Angeles' Red Razor Sounds, producer Butch Vig's home studio, and lead singer Shirley Manson's bedroom. Engineer Billy Bush handled production duties.
Manson describes the upcoming album as a deliberate shift toward hope and positivity. "Going into making this record, I was determined to find a more hopeful, uplifting world to immerse myself in," she explains. The album's title reflects this renewed perspective, with Manson noting it serves as "a strategy for survival" during challenging times.
The 10-track album includes songs like "There's No Future in Optimism," "Chinese Fire Horse," and "The Day That I Met God." The recording process brought together the band's signature sound while exploring new creative territories.
This release marks another chapter in Garbage's nearly three-decade career, which began in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1993. The band has consistently evolved their sound while maintaining their distinctive alternative rock edge.
The album promises to showcase the band's continued musical growth while offering listeners a more optimistic perspective during uncertain times. "When things feel dark it feels imperative to seek out forces that are light, positive and beautiful in the world," Manson adds.
"Let All That We Imagine Be the Light" will be available through Stun Volume starting May 30, adding another compelling entry to Garbage's extensive discography.
