Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has announced a star-studded benefit concert at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium, with proceeds supporting California wildfire victims through the American Red Cross.
The two-hour special "Ringo & Friends at the Ryman" will be recorded on January 14-15 and later broadcast on CBS and Paramount+. The concert aligns with Starr's recent country album "Look Up," produced by T Bone Burnett.
The impressive lineup features Jack White, Sheryl Crow, Brenda Lee, Emmylou Harris, Billy Strings, Mickey Guyton, and several other prominent artists, with more names to be announced.
"It is always a thrill to play the Ryman, and this time we are going country!" Starr expressed in a statement. The legendary musician will perform selections from his new album alongside Beatles classics and solo hits reimagined with a country twist.
The event will also showcase Starr sharing personal reflections about country music's influence on his career and The Beatles. Guest artists will offer their perspectives on Starr's musical impact.
Producer T Bone Burnett highlighted Starr's long-standing connection to country music, noting that many Beatles recordings featured country elements. The performance will be backed by accomplished Nashville musicians.
The concert special, produced by Burnett and Van Toffler of Gunpowder & Sky, carries special meaning as it will air on CBS - the same network that introduced The Beatles to American audiences 61 years ago.
This unique blend of rock and country talent comes together not only to celebrate Starr's musical legacy but also to support communities affected by California's devastating wildfires.
