Rock legend Rod Stewart is set to grace Glastonbury's coveted Sunday afternoon "legend slot" in June 2025, marking a historic return to the prestigious festival.
The 79-year-old music icon expressed his excitement on social media, declaring himself "absolutely thrilled" about the performance. "After all these years, I'm proud and ready to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June," Stewart announced.
The appearance will make festival history, as Stewart becomes the first artist ever to both headline Glastonbury and perform in the legend slot. His previous festival appearance came in 2002, when he headlined alongside Coldplay and Stereophonics.
With a career spanning over five decades, Stewart has released 32 studio albums since 1969, including his recent collaboration with Jools Holland, "Swing Fever." Festival-goers can expect to hear classics like "Maggie May," "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" "Sailing," and "I Don't Want to Talk About It."
Stewart follows in the footsteps of Shania Twain, who held the legend slot in 2024 alongside headliners Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA. The 2025 festival has already generated massive interest, with tickets selling out in just 35 minutes.
While the headline acts remain under wraps until spring, speculation points to potential performances from Olivia Rodrigo, Eminem, and Charli XCX. The anticipation is particularly high as Glastonbury has announced 2026 will be a fallow year with no festival taking place.
