In a startling development, As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has filed a restraining order against his now ex-wife Dany, claiming she subjected him to verbal, mental, and physical abuse over a three-year period.
The news comes after disturbing security camera footage emerged online showing heated exchanges between the couple. Two videos surfaced - one showing a tense bedroom confrontation and another capturing an incident on an outdoor porch where Lambesis overturned a table.
According to Lambesis, he recently took "much needed and overdue" action by serving divorce papers. He alleges the video releases were retaliatory measures following his divorce filing. The metal vocalist also revealed that a domestic violence investigation is currently underway.
This situation appears connected to recent upheaval within As I Lay Dying, as multiple band members departed the group citing moral concerns. Between October and November 2023, bassist Ryan Neff, guitarist Ken Susi, drummer Nick Pierce, and guitarist Phil Sgrosso all left the band, with several members noting an "unhealthy environment" in their exit statements.
The current controversy adds another chapter to Lambesis's troubled history. He previously served prison time after a 2013 conviction for attempting to hire a hitman to murder his former wife. After his release, he reformed As I Lay Dying and continued performing.
Prior to these recent developments, Dany Lambesis had publicly denied any abuse allegations, calling such claims "unfounded" and "completely false." Tim Lambesis maintains he plans to rebuild As I Lay Dying's lineup and resume touring in 2025.
