Grammy-winning artist SZA is set to join Kendrick Lamar for an electrifying performance at the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX halftime show. The highly anticipated event will take place on February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
The announcement came through a playful trailer released Thursday, showing SZA surprising Lamar with a Gatorade splash on a football field. The two artists, former labelmates at Top Dawg Entertainment, have collaborated on several hit songs, including their Oscar-nominated track "All the Stars" and recent releases "Luther" and "Gloria" from Lamar's album 'GNX'.
This won't be Lamar's first Super Bowl appearance - he previously performed in the star-studded 2022 halftime show alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent, which earned an Emmy for outstanding live variety special.
The creative direction for the upcoming show will be handled by pgLang, the creative company founded by Lamar and Dave Free. Jay-Z's Roc Nation will return as co-producer for the sixth consecutive year, with Emmy-winning producer Jesse Collins also joining the production team.
Both artists enter the performance riding high on recent success. SZA heads into the upcoming Grammy Awards with two nominations for her single "Saturn," while Lamar boasts seven nominations, including song and record of the year considerations.
The dynamic duo will follow their Super Bowl performance with a 19-city North American tour, starting April 19 in Minneapolis and concluding June 18 in Washington, D.C.
